Indonesian Dragon And Lion Dance Sport Federation has officially opened registration for the National Lion Dance Coach Training and Certification 2026 as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and standardization of lion dance coaches across Indonesia. This program represents a strategic initiative to strengthen the foundation of national lion dance development, not only in terms of technical skills but also in managerial aspects, training methodology, and athlete character building.

President of FOBI Edy Kusuma emphasized that this initiative plays a crucial role in the preparation for the 2028 National Sports Week (PON), which will be held in Nusa Tenggara Timur. He encouraged the development of more talented coaches through this program, who will be capable of nurturing top-tier athletes from various provinces to compete and represent their regions with optimal performance at the national level.

This training program is comprehensively designed to enable participants to develop into professional, well-structured coaches with a long-term vision for athlete development. Participants will not only be equipped with technical expertise but will also gain an in-depth understanding of standardized training systems that can be consistently implemented across different regions. The program is open to the public, including coaches, athletes, lion dance practitioners, and individuals interested in pursuing a deeper understanding of lion dance coaching.

The training will take place from August 1 to 2, 2026, with participant arrival scheduled for July 31, 2026, and departure on August 3, 2026. The entire program will be held at Grand Whiz Hotel Praxis Surabaya, selected for its comfort, accessibility, and facilities that support an optimal learning environment.

During the program, participants will receive various supporting facilities prepared by the organizing committee, including accommodation for three days for those opting for the lodging package, meals and refreshments throughout the training, official polo shirts, and a formal certificate for participants who successfully complete the program. This certification is expected to serve as a formal recognition of competence and enhance the credibility of participants as nationally certified lion dance coaches.

Beyond being a training program, this initiative also serves as a platform to expand the lion dance community network across Indonesia. Interaction among participants from various regions is expected to foster positive collaboration and strengthen the national lion dance development ecosystem.

In closing, President of FOBI Edy Kusuma encouraged all provinces in Indonesia to send their best coaches to participate in this program and continuously enhance their knowledge and competencies. With a growing number of well-trained and certified coaches, it is expected that athlete development at the regional level will significantly improve, ultimately producing outstanding athletes who are ready to compete at both national and international levels.
