BANDAR LAMPUNG — The Indonesian Lion Dance Sports Federation (FOBI) Lampung Provincial Board held Regional Judge Training and a Lion Dance Festival from October 15 to 17, 2026, at Chandra Mall in Bandar Lampung. The two events combined judge development with opportunities for Lampung’s lion dance teams to gain competition experience.

The program began with the Lampung Regional Judge Training on October 15–16, 2026, in the VIP Room at Chandra Mall. Seven participants attended the training, three of whom went on to serve as judges at the FOBI Lampung Lion Dance Festival the following day.

Their involvement in the festival provided an opportunity to put their training into practice. This experience contributed to developing their judging skills and preparing a new generation of judges to support lion dance competitions in the province.

The FOBI Lampung Lion Dance Festival took place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the first-floor atrium of Chandra Mall Tanjung Karang in Bandar Lampung. Five teams competed in the Traditional Lion Dance category, performing in the following order: Suaka Insan Team C, Suaka Insan Team A, Suaka Insan Team B, Hakka Metta Sarana, and Dharma Bakti.

Those attending the festival included Lampung Provincial KONI Chairman Ir. H. Taufik Hidayat, M.M., M.E.P.; FOBI Central Board Executive Chairman Arifin Himawan; FOBI Central Board Deputy Secretary General Andrean Wijaya; and FOBI Lampung Advisor Alesius Bunawan. Members of FOBI Lampung’s Honorary Council, Board of Advisors, and Provincial Board also attended, alongside the judges and festival participants.

Based on the judges’ scores, Suaka Insan Team C secured first place with 8.17 points. Dharma Bakti finished second with 8.00 points, followed by Suaka Insan Team B in third place with 7.81 points. Suaka Insan Team A received the First Consolation Award with 7.70 points, while Hakka Metta Sarana was disqualified.

Holding judge training followed by a festival supported the development of lion dance in Lampung. Through this program, improvements in judging quality went hand in hand with opportunities for athletes to gain competition experience.

At the conclusion of the event, representatives of the FOBI Central Board provided guidance and encouragement to the athletes, urging them to remain dedicated to lion dance and improve their skills through consistent training. This guidance was intended to help Lampung’s athletes prepare to compete with athletes from other provinces and eventually at the international level.

FOBI Central Board Chairman Edy Kusuma expressed his support for the Regional Judge Training and FOBI Lampung Lion Dance Festival. He hoped that the program would strengthen judging standards, create opportunities for athlete development, and promote the sustained development of lion dance in Lampung.

The events are expected to nurture a new generation of judges and athletes, strengthen ties among teams, and lay the groundwork for Lampung’s future achievements in lion dance.
