FOBI Conducts Visit and Audiience with the Indonesian Olympic Committee

The Indonesian Dragon and Lion Dance Federation (FOBI) conducted a visit and official audience with the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. The meeting took place from 11.00 to 13.00 WIB at the NOC Indonesia Building, FX Plaza Office Tower, as part of FOBI’s strategic efforts to promote the development of Dragon and Lion Dance sports in Indonesia.

The visit was received directly by the President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, Raja Sapta Oktohari. Representing FOBI were the President of FOBI, Edy Kusuma, accompanied by the Chairman of the FOBI Board of Trustees, Honorary Lieutenant General (Ret.) Tono Suratman, the Secretary General of FOBI, Hery Lim, and the Deputy Secretary General of FOBI, Andrean Wijaya.

During the audience, FOBI presented its vision, programs, and organizational commitment to fostering and developing Dragon and Lion Dance as a professional and sustainable sport. The discussion focused on institutional strengthening, athlete performance development, and opportunities to further enhance the recognition of Dragon and Lion Dance so that it can compete at the international level.

In principle, the Indonesian Olympic Committee expressed its support for FOBI as the national governing body overseeing Dragon and Lion Dance sports in Indonesia. The NOC encouraged FOBI to continue improving athletic performance and organizational quality, so that Dragon and Lion Dance can contribute to enhancing Indonesia’s reputation on the global stage.

On this occasion, FOBI also reported several international agendas that have been and will be undertaken in early 2026. One of these is Indonesia’s participation in an international Dragon and Lion Dance championship held in Sanya, China. This participation demonstrates FOBI’s strong commitment to enabling Indonesian athletes to compete and perform at the world level.

Furthermore, FOBI conveyed a significant strategic achievement at the global level, where Indonesia, represented by FOBI President Edy Kusuma, has been entrusted with the position of Vice President of the International Dragon and Lion Dance Federation (IDLDF), the world governing body for Dragon and Lion Dance. This appointment reflects international recognition of Indonesia’s active role in the development of the sport and opens broader opportunities for Indonesian athletes and organizations to engage on the international stage.

This visit and audience are expected to further strengthen synergy between FOBI and the Indonesian Olympic Committee and serve as an important foundation for sustainable development and improved performance of Dragon and Lion Dance sports in Indonesia in the future.
