Semarang – Melly Pangestu has officially been elected as the Chairperson of the Central Java Provincial Board of the Indonesian Lion Dance Federation (FOBI) for the 2025–2029 term. The election took place during the Provincial Congress (Musprov) held at Hotel Metro Parkview Semarang on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

The Musprov was attended by 15 city and regency FOBI branches across Central Java and proceeded dynamically yet smoothly. The event was also attended by representatives of the FOBI National Board (PB FOBI), Central Java KONI, and the Provincial Office of Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disporapar). FOBI Chairman Edy Kusuma expressed his full support for the development of FOBI in Central Java and conveyed his confidence that under the leadership of Melly Pangestu, the organization will continue to grow and achieve greater success. On this occasion, PB FOBI was represented by Secretary General Heryanto Salim, accompanied by Deputy Secretary General Andrean Wijaya.
In his remarks, the Secretary General of FOBI also extended his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the former Provincial Chairperson, Mr. Handojo, along with his entire board, for their invaluable contributions in bringing pride to FOBI Central Java.

Under Melly Pangestu’s leadership, FOBI Central Java is committed to strengthening organizational governance while focusing on athlete development from an early age. With continuous and structured training, the province aims to nurture lion dance athletes who can excel at both national and international levels.
Central Java’s lion dance athletes have already achieved remarkable results. At the 20th National Sports Week (PON XX/2024) in Medan, the team won three silver medals and two bronze medals. The next target is to secure gold medals at the upcoming PON 2028 in NTT–NTB. With strong organizational support and collaboration from all stakeholders, this goal is considered realistic and achievable.
Melly Pangestu’s leadership is expected to foster a more modern, inclusive, and professional atmosphere, positioning FOBI Central Java as one of the strongest pillars of lion dance achievements in Indonesia.
