Six judges from the Indonesian Dragon and Lion Dance Federation (FOBI) are attending the 2026 International-Level Dragon & Lion Dance Referee Promotion and Recertification Training Course in Shanghai, China. The course, held from September 24 to 29, 2026, is part of FOBI’s commitment to strengthening the quality of Indonesian judges at the international level.
The six participants come from different provinces:
- Heryanto Salim — Banten (Recertification)
- Andrean Wijaya — Jakarta (Recertification)
- Ferry Ruslim Wijaya — Bali (Recertification)
- David So — North Sumatra (Promotion)
- Lie Vincent Ivan Haryanto — Special Region of Yogyakarta (Promotion)
- Helmi Okyanto Yosudarso — West Java (Promotion)
The three Recertification participants are taking part in the program to renew their qualifications as international judges. The three Promotion participants are pursuing advancement from national to international judge status.
FOBI Chairman Edy Kusuma said the judges’ participation reflects the federation’s commitment to developing its judging personnel. In his view, judges’ skills must continue to improve alongside athletes’ performances and the rising standards of dragon and lion dance competitions.
Edy Kusuma and FOBI expressed their appreciation to North Sumatra FOBI Chair Peter Suhendra, Jakarta FOBI Chair Hilda Kusuma Dewi, and West Java FOBI Chair Djoni Toat Muljadi for supporting judges from their respective provinces in attending the course. They also thanked the Yogyakarta Regional Sports Committee (KONI DIY) for supporting the participation of the judge from Yogyakarta.
Through this training, FOBI hopes the participants will gain experience and knowledge they can apply in their judging duties. The federation also hopes they will share what they learn with other judges upon returning to Indonesia, helping to improve the quality of dragon and lion dance competitions across the country.
The participation of six judges from different provinces reflects a shared commitment to judge development. FOBI will continue to support their professional growth as part of its broader efforts to advance dragon and lion dance in Indonesia.
