The Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), Letjen TNI (Ret.) Marciano Norman, officially inaugurated and inducted the Executive Board of the Indonesian Dragon and Lion Dance Federation (FOBI) for the 2024–2028 term today, May 6, 2025, at the KONI Headquarters in Jakarta.

In his speech, Mr. Marciano expressed his appreciation for FOBI’s enthusiasm and dedication in developing the sport of lion dance in Indonesia. He emphasized the importance of synergy between sports organizations and KONI to achieve national achievements, especially in sports with cultural roots like lion dance.
“Lion dance is no longer just a cultural performance; it has developed into a recognized and popular competitive sport. I hope the newly inaugurated FOBI board can work professionally, innovatively, and inclusively to take lion dance sports to the next level,” said Marciano.
The Chairman of FOBI, Edy Kusuma, expressed his gratitude for the trust given to him and emphasized the new board’s commitment to expanding the reach of lion dance, dragon dance, and pekingsai across Indonesia. He also highlighted several strategic plans ahead, including the upcoming National Working Meeting and National Championship.

“With gratitude and joy, I promise to work hard and stay committed to advancing the competitive sports of dragon dance, lion dance, and pekingsai in Indonesia. This year, we will hold the National Working Meeting and the National Championship as part of our efforts to strengthen the organization and athlete development,” said Edy.
Furthermore, he shared a major plan to host a world championship in 2026 in Bali, which is expected not only to promote the sport but also support national tourism. “We kindly ask for support from all parties so this plan can be successfully implemented,” he added.

On this occasion, Edy Kusuma also shared proud news that he was recently appointed as Vice President of the International Dragon and Lion Dance Federation (IDLDF), representing Indonesia along with delegates from Malaysia and Hong Kong. “This is a great honor, and I hope to bring pride to Indonesia on the international stage,” he said.
This inauguration marks a significant milestone in FOBI’s journey as a sports organization fully focused on performance development, competitive excellence, and bringing pride to the nation through dragon dance, lion dance, and pekingsai.
