Padang — The Indonesian Lion Dance Sports Federation (FOBI) of West Sumatra successfully held the Provincial Sports Meeting (Musorprov) on Sunday evening, May 4, 2025. The event took place at the FOBI West Sumatra Provincial Secretariat Office, located on Jl. Kelenteng No. 321, Padang. It marked an important moment in determining the organization’s leadership direction for the next four years.

During this Musorprov 2025, Mr. Christian Rudy Kurniawan Sutiono was unanimously elected as the Chairman of FOBI West Sumatra for the 2025–2029 term. The election was carried out democratically and openly, reflecting the strong trust given by the members to their new leader.
The event was attended by several key figures and stakeholders in the lion dance community of West Sumatra. Among the attendees were the Chairman of KONI (Indonesian National Sports Committee) West Sumatra Province, Mr. Ronny Pahlawan, who expressed appreciation for FOBI’s positive collaboration with various parties to support the development of lion dance in the region. Also present were FOBI West Sumatra’s Board of Advisors, Mr. Iswanto Kwara, the management team of FOBI Padang City, and representatives from several lion dance teams that are members of FOBI West Sumatra. In total, 17 participants attended, aged between 25 and 60. The event was also open to the public.

This election was an important step in strengthening and renewing the organization, especially as public interest in lion dance continues to grow in West Sumatra. With this new leadership, FOBI West Sumatra is expected to continue developing athlete training, competitions, and referee regeneration programs in the province.

Mr. Christian Rudy Kurniawan Sutiono, as the newly elected chairman, stated his commitment to strengthening the organization’s foundation and improving lion dance achievements at both regional and national levels. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between teams, management, and other stakeholders in building a more professional and inclusive lion dance ecosystem in West Sumatra.
With this new leadership in place, FOBI West Sumatra is ready to take further steps in developing lion dance as a cultural pride and a competitive sport of the nation.
